clearing out
just got a whole
lot easier

At last! You can pass on your unwanted clothes, support your community and ensure your items don’t end up in landfill.
All without leaving the house.

We take your unwanted or outgrown kid’s clothing regardless of condition. From there, quality items are passed on for community good and items that are ready to retire are sent to our repair, repurposing and recycling partners. Once your items enter our system, everything is reused or recycled.

Your collection will make an impact.
On average, one Ripple Collection Bag:

  • Contributes towards at least two Gear Box clothing parcels, clothing a child for a year at a time and saving their family between $200-400 per year.
  • Reduces textiles going to landfill which prevents approximately 1.3kg of Greenhouse Gasses from entering the atmosphere.

It is so awesome that all those clothes will be helping other families.

Emerald, Hamilton

I am truly so excited by this. I have been talking to so many mums about this issue. I now know what to do with my heavily stained daycare clothing.

Rhiain, Auckland

Very impressed with how easy it was.

I shared our impact stats with the kids – so cool.

Ann, Auckland

I’m already putting some stuff aside for the next bag.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

What size is the Collection Bag?
Our collection bags are POLLAST!C sized 420mm x 594mm made from 100% Ocean Bound Plastic pollution and re-recyclable with soft plastics collections.

I have boxes of clothing, can you accept bulk collections?
Yes, click here for details or contact hello@ripplemovement.co.nz to chat.

What clothing don’t you accept?
Unwashed clothing
Underwear, nappies and socks
Bibs
Clothing for adults and kids over 12 years

Do you accept shoes?
Yes, your clean, great quality shoes will be sent to our community partners for reuse. At this time, we cannot recycle shoes.

Do you accept baby swaddles and wraps?

Yes, as well as supplying our Gear Boxes, we have requests from local neonatal units for these items.

Do you accept togs?
Yes, togs that come through our collection bags and Gear Drives will now be passed on to Dean Greenwood Swim School, who will offer these free to kids currently going without so they are kitted out with what they need to participate. Togs need to be in good condition, please note we cannot recycle togs.

Do you accept cloth/reusable nappies, bed linen, sheets, blankets, duvets?
Thank you for checking, we currently do not take these items.

Why is there a cost to send my items?
We know this is different.  Just as we pay to dispose items at landfill and pay for our kerbside rubbish and recycling collections, this is a user pays system.  This fee helps contribute towards the costs involved in delivering our service including payment processing, collection, transport, hand sorting, repair materials and textile recycling.

Is Ripple a charity?
We are a social enterprise. We hope to be in this for the long haul and are working towards a financially sustainable model so that we do not need to rely on donations or fundraising campaigns to stay afloat, leaving us to focus on our social and environmental objectives.
